"We cannot Wait.
We've seen mothers bury sons.
And we're begging You to come.
When the poor are thrown aside,
The sick are left to die,
We need Your grace oh God.
God come.
Your Kingdom come."
As we leave this place, may grace meet us in in the places we are and make us uncomfortable there. Â May love reach out to us and make us long for more than the satisfaction of our cravings and our comfort, to help us reach out to those in bondage, the lost, the suffering & oppressed. May God's presence draw us close to reveal our brokeness in His light and bring us to restoration and healing.Â
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you now & always. Amen.Â
Another MS 150 come and gone. Felt like the road just kept coming though, especially with the wind hitting us head on for most of the ride. Somehow I finished though and I definitely felt the need to get an official certificate for this one (6th in a row) :-)
Thanks to everyone that has donated so far. You guys rock!! You can still donate in support of my ride to find a cure for MS at www.ms150.org/edon.cfm?id=220443 (I'm keeping a tally on my other site - deji.osinulu.org )
Yep, finished my first Half Marathon yesterday. Gorgeous day, perfect running weather, having a blast ... until just about mile 9 - right knee, IT band. Now I know just what sports athletes mean when they talk about being frustrated by injury. I could barely walk. I managed to make it to the medical tent about .5 miles away, had them tape the leg just above the knee to compress the band a bit and then somehow hobbled my way to the finish line.
There was no way I was not going to finish after waking up at 5 a.m. on Saturday mornings for the past couple of months to train :-)
See you out there next year and many, many thanks to all of you that were out there cheering!!!
"Remedy" (David Crowder Band) has been released! It was one of the Top 10 albums on iTunes last week and one of my favorites on the album so far is "Surely We Can Change" ... a beautiful song that speaks volumes about what we might dare to do to change ourselves and our world. Feels almost like a prayer, a benediction that fittingly is the last song on the album.
Luciano Pavarotti passed away this morning at the age of 71 in Modena, Italy. I'm sure most of you have already heard the news and are well familiar with the details and the accolades that are being paid to this gifted man.
I just wanted to add a little something since I was one of the millions that have had the pleasure of listening to his rendition of many arias and you could say he was the one that really got me interested in the world of opera. One of my favorites has been his performance of "Caruso" (by Lucio Dalla) which I found on the Greatest Hits CD.
So here's to a gifted & generous man and a great tenor. Requiescat in pace.
